Motorola Flipout

July 16th, 2010 by admin No comments »

Among the latest offerings from Motorola is the uniquely-styled Flipout—intended to be a tiny pocket-sized mobile device perfect for bringing social networking and entertainment functionality with you wherever you go, the Flipout features some unique styling. With a flip-out five-row QWERTY keyboard that rotates out, the Flipout is only 67 x 67 x 17mm when folded up and features a 2.8” screen, making it a nice portable size with a fairly big screen proportionally. Motorola also offers different battery covers in a variety of bold colourations to allow you to change the look of your Flipout to fit the occasion, or just for a change of pace. To search for the best phone deals for your next phone head along to Best Mobile Contracts. There you will be able to pick up the latest Flipout deals at the best price going.

Like Motorola’s other smartphones, the Flipout makes use of the Motoblur social networking aggregator. By collecting all of your social data—text messages, instant messages, missed calls, and Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace updates—and combining it into one easy to read stream, Motoblur makes it easy to update your info and see everyone else’s at a glance. Additionally, the Flipout’s 3G access and 802.11 b/g wireless connectivity allow you to stay connected from virtually anywhere.

The Flipout also features a built-in 3-megapixel camera that allows you to capture images and record video, and easily share them on Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace through integrated social media support, or take advantage of the Flipout’s support for up to 32GB of external microSD memory and save them to view later. In addition to its imaging capabilities, the Flipout can play music in eAAC+, AAC or MP3 format through a wireless headset using Bluetooth A2DP support, or a wired headset using the standard 3.5mm stereo headphone jack.

Running on a customised version of Android 2.1, the Flipout comes preloaded with the Google apps suite, providing native Google Maps and Gmail access, as well as a powerful Google search to help you find anything you might need on your phone or on the internet. Instant connectivity to the Android Marketplace also allows you to search through a selection of over 70,000 apps to find the features and functionality you’re looking for in a mobile device, and then instantly download them to the Flipout itself or sync them from a PC.

The Modest Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8

July 15th, 2010 by admin No comments »

Playing catch-up in the Android competition, after releasing a now underwhelming XPERIA X10, the struggling Japanese-Swedish mobile phone giant pins its hopes on its XPERIA line-up with the official announcements of the new Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 due for release before the end of the 3rd quarter. If you are looking for a new mobile phone then it can help to compare what is on offer from online retailers.

Pitched to a wider market with a more modest set of features that sits halfway between the X10 and its lackluster Mini and Mini Pro cousins, the new smartphone carries the same outdated Android v1.6 Donut OS and the Timescape UI to give it the social networking edge that’s barely above those of its rivals.

Powered by a competitive 600 MHz processor under its touchscreen monolith body measuring 99 x 54 x 15 mm, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 comes with 3-inch TFT HVGA capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors protected by a scratch resistance surface. It also comes with the usual auto rotate accelerometer.

Entertainment gets a stereo FM radio with RDS and the media players that support the popular audio and video files. It has TrackID, PlayNow and a 3.5mm headphone jack complementing its wireless A2DP stereo listening.

As a nod to a lower price but a sure disappointment to Android fans is an outdated 3.2 megapixel camera with no autofocus and no flash though it has geo tagging and a capable 30fps video recorder at VGA resolution.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 is a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE on 2G and also a quad band UMTS/HSDPA on 3G. It has hotspot support with its WiFi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0. There are some amazing Sony Xperia X8 deals to be had from online retailers, and it helps to compare all the deals on offer because there are so many of them.

Its SatNav functionality gets a built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS support, digital compass, Google maps with Street View and WisePlot navigation.

Internal memory gets a decent 128 MB with microSD external memory expandability for up to 16 GB and comes and even comes with a 2GB microSD card in its sales package.

Expected to be released before the end of the 3rd quarter, the new XPERIA X8 has been announced to carry a SIM-free price of €329 before subsidies and taxes. It will come in a choice of body colors, white, and two toned color schemes like dark blue/white, aqua blue/white, pink/white and silver/white.
